Solid Polycarbonate Sheet
Solid Polycarbonate Sheet is a lightweight, exceptionally impact-resistant glazing material suitable for demanding construction, safety, automotive and industrial applications.
Approximately half the weight of glass and up to 200 times more impact-resistant, polycarbonate provides an excellent combination of strength, clarity and ease of handling. UV protection on both sides helps maintain its performance when used in exterior applications.
Its versatility makes it suitable for flat or curved glazing, roofing, protective screens and architectural projects where safety, durability and reduced weight are important.
Cold Curving
Sheets in 3mm and 4mm thicknesses are particularly suitable for cold-curved applications such as barrel-vault walkways, bicycle shelters, smoking shelters and sports dugouts.
Thicker sheets may also be cold curved, but they become progressively more rigid as the material thickness increases. The manufacturer’s minimum bending-radius recommendations should always be followed.
Roofing Applications
The appropriate thickness for a roofing project depends on factors including the roof dimensions, supporting structure, span, location, expected loads and intended use. Solid polycarbonate roofing sheets are commonly specified from 6mm upwards, with thicker sheets generally providing greater strength and rigidity for larger spans.
A qualified professional should confirm the correct sheet thickness, support spacing and fixing method for each installation.
